Lightning Leads to Cancellation of Chargers’ Home Opener

The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team got on the pitch briefly before lightning in the area led to the cancellation of the Chargers’ home opener Wednesday afternoon against Truman.

The teams played about 2½ scoreless minutes before being pulled off because of lightning. They returned to the field after a 30-minute wait, only to have more lightning quickly lead to another delay and eventual cancellation.

Sandburg’s next contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Oakton.
